I am 1/3 of the way through the yokes for my multi-headed sweater. It’s not quite as time consuming as I was expecting but it does eat up a fair amount of wool. I’ll be ordering more for the body and sleeves closer to Christmas because this thing is going to be gigantic. Once all the yokes are done, I’ll have to arrange them in some kind of aesthetically pleasing order before grafting the entire thing together. I’m dreading the grafting part not only because it’s going to be terribly annoying to do but the piece is going to get even more cumbersome to handle. I’ll definitely be making use of those super-long cables for my KnitPicks interchangeable circulars.
I am really striving to have the yokes done and grafted together by the first few weeks of December. The exhibition is coming up in March but the work will have to be completed and shipped to Ontario before then, which means I really don’t have a ton of time to get this stuff done. Needless to say I’ve been spending a lot of time in the studio–often 12 hours at a time with classes scattered throughout.
Yea. I’m busy, busy, busy. And that’s just with the knitting! Also on my plate are presentations, papers and even more research. I’m currently attempting to teach myself rug hooking and I’ve been doing workshops on a big computerized Jacquard loom for narrative weaving ideas. And I have to make bread this week too. And do a massive pile of laundry. Yikes!
Anyway, here is a video interlude inspired by Mackenzie over at Art Cloth Text.
